Challenge:
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Esperanza Health Center needed to adapt its PATH (Practical Avenues to Health) course—a key health education program—for virtual learning environments. Originally designed for in-person workshops, the course materials needed to be redesigned to support remote instruction while maintaining the community-centered, accessible spirit that defines the program. The challenge was to update and reformat the workbooks, promotional tools, and supporting digital materials for ease of use online, while still producing durable printed versions for participants with limited internet access.

The challenge was to update and reformat the workbooks, promotional tools, and supporting digital materials for ease of use online, while still producing durable printed versions for participants with limited internet access.
Solution:
I led creative direction to successfully transition PATH materials into a hybrid format, blending the best of print and digital communication to keep participants engaged and supported remotely.
I led creative direction to successfully transition PATH materials into a hybrid format, blending the best of print and digital communication to keep participants engaged and supported remotely.
Editorial Design & Workbook Design: Redesigned the PATH workbooks to be more user-friendly for independent or virtual learning, with clear visual hierarchy, interactive exercises, and layouts that worked both digitally (PDFs) and in printed form. Special attention was paid to readability, bilingual presentation, and self-paced usability.
Print Production: Coordinated production of physical workbooks that could be distributed safely to participants, ensuring high-quality, durable materials that could withstand frequent handling at home.
Digital Marketing: Created digital graphics and email assets to promote the new online format of the PATH course, targeting both new and returning participants through Esperanza’s online channels.
Social Media Kit: Developed a set of branded, easy-to-use social media templates to support course announcements, health tips, and community engagement during the pandemic. These assets helped maintain visibility and foster connection at a time when face-to-face outreach was limited.
By reimagining the PATH course materials for virtual and hybrid environments, I helped Esperanza Health Center continue delivering vital health education during an unprecedented time, keeping its mission alive and accessible to the communities it serves.
